XHTML - Lesson 1/5 Learn XHTML - Part 1 |
This is lesson 1 out of 5. What is XHTML (Extensible Hyper Text Markup Language)? XHTML is next generation for HTML, we can call it a new way to write HTML. It means that XHTML (In the newest version) contains the same elements as HTML 4, but some of them should be written after some new rules to be used in XHTML. So it's the Extensible Markup Language we a focusing at (XML). That's why XHTML describes HTML as a reformulation in the language XML. To shortly learn what XML is, we can call it something that structures our data. This abillity makes our new language more flexible, than HTML there just focus on data in a normal browser. It's very important to know, that XHTML is build op to handle many different systems at one time, and that's also why everything should be done correct. What's the differences at HTML and XHTML? Actually there is not such a big different at HTML 4 and XHTML 1, we might well have chosen the name HTML 5 instead. You can expect to learn a lot of new elements and attributes - actually you might get used not to use all of them, you know already. The most visible differences could be: • In XHTML you have to end all elements. • All letters should be written with small. • The value of the attributes should be written in quotations. • In XHTML its disabled to use minimized attributes. • The attribute "Id" is used as identification. Why using XHTML? We might see a lot to this language in the future. Not only that, XHTML is also much easier to work with. If you want to do a serious job with your webdesign, you can's escape the XML. So start with XHTML, and it would be much easier to learn the XML in the future. Your system will probably got a shorter loading time. |
