I've noticed a number of topics here that have been marked as solved and locked, when it was clear (to me, anyway!) that the topic was in no way solved. Here's the most recent:

http://www.webartzforum.com/-t1928.htm

The "text-decoration:blink" property is only supported in older versions of Firefox -- it will not work in Internet Explorer, Chrome, or Safari. For reference: http://www.w3schools.com/css/pr_text_text-decoration.asp

There's no easy answer, but here's a suggestion. Topics marked as solved BY THE TOPIC CREATOR should remain open for 48 hours before they are locked. Topics not marked as solved by the topic creator should remain open indefinitely. In that way, a member can continue the topic if they found that the solution wasn't really a solution. The topic above was locked less than two hours after it was created!

Please add a pool. Wink

Off topic: I would say that a answer like that, in that situation is like saying "solved", because there were writtin that it worked. But ya you were right, the wasen't solved completely, but it was (in my head) solved by the user. But if it isn't solved can the creator, of the thread, always contact the one who solved it

Yeah I think you always can open your topic back by sending a pm to the staff members or just open a new one.

Quick on the gun... F087c9a6db9ea508

Opening a new topic makes absolutely no sense. And wouldn't it make the life of moderators simpler if topics were kept open? Then members wouldn't have to bother them to open topics they closed.

I guess I don't understand the unwillingness to keep topics open. Do moderators get a bonus for closing topics as quickly as they can? Very Happy

Well as i see, it was mentioned as solved by the creator of the topic. Hence, it was locked.

I feel if the user faces another problem related to the same question, he is always free to open a new topic Smile

Well, there is no point to keep a topic open even after the author says that it is solved. If he feels like he missed to ask something regarding the same topic, there are no restriction for creating a new topic or ask a mod to re-open the locked one Smile

Thanks for your views, guys.
