Hi!

I have thoughts about starting up an internet business. I would like to create a membership site around my interest. The problem is that i'm not so good at the technical parts and wondering how much time it requires to learn the programming languages to setup a website where I can accept monthly payments for members. The content is not a problem, but I don't really know where to start. I would like to create something similar to brainvale.com, sixpackshortcuts.com or universityofmakeup.com. But I would not want one time payment, a monthly subscription.

Could anyone give some advice how I can start? or does it cost much to hire a professional programmer to setup a site similar to these membership sites above?

If you want to setup everything yourself, you have to learn lot of programming including server side languages like PHP, database like SQL and know about payment gateways.

To make task easy, you can use some ecommerce software like opencart, magento etc or you can use CMS like wordpress and use plugins on it to enable paid membership.

Alright. I will take a closer look at these opencart, magento and wordpress and see if that is something for me. It sounds that learning these programming languages could be hard and very much time-consuming. Thanks for you're help!

Learning programming and setup a whole site yourself will take years. Better to use some web based eCommerce softwares. Make sure whether these softwares provide monthly subscription feature or not. You might need to get additional plugins for that purpose, I think.
