Hey there everyone. I just have a few questions. Sorry if this is placed in the wrong section or shouldn't be posted.

I have a dying forum and want an Idea on what kind of forum to make. I had a gaming forum once before but it didn't go well so I wanted to get your opinions on what type of forum I should do.

Thanks!

I think that you should make a forum about something that interestes you and you have knowledge about that subject. You won't succeed if you make a forum just to have a forum.

Well I play video games but like i said I don't wanna do a gaming forum being that I failed that. I want to make a coding / graphic forum but others in my forum aren't skilled in coding and I know very little

Thats why I wanted to be here was to see if I could learn good coding

The point is... Why do you want to have a forum?

I wanna help and learn new things really. I made a gaming forum for gamers to meet and talk about their own experiences. I want to create a Coding forum to help others with coding, learn it as well as me. I think it would be a learning experience for them as well as myself.

But as long as there are so many existing coding forums with staff much more experienced than you, why don't you just help on those forums but you want to have your own? (that possibly is not gonna be better than the forums from which you've learned coding yourself).

I make you those questions because usually people think "I like this, I can't find something nice on web so I will make my own". They don't start with "I want to make a forum"...

And I also don't understand what's your question in this topic. You seem like you've already decided that the subject of your forum will be the coding.

If you are interested in gaming and have knowledge about it, you can make the gaming forum successful.

You need to come up with some new and innovative ideas and promote the forum properly. Your forum failed, may be because yo didn't have anything new or interesting in it.

I visit a gaming forum. I think that what makes those forums interesting are two sections: Game reviews and General Discussion/News.

Game reviews are a must on any gaming forum in my opinion.

General Discussion helps to keep daily visits from your members. Moderators have to post new, interesting things there every day. So other people take part to the conversation, learn each other and a friendly atmosphere is built.

You could also host a server (cs, cod etc) and have there people that play everyday (and also visit your forum). You'll be able to put an advertising message on your server so more people would come to learn your forum. And with those servers you can also organize tournaments. Though the problem with my server suggestion is that servers require money.

Dont make forum if you are just bored. I am good at programming but I do know that there are guys taht do better then me, so, I dont make form for that. I love gaming, know a lot about it, but why should I do that, gamers play, dont talk that often unless they have some problem to solve. If you like to help, then help here or on another forum, dont make own. Its hard in this time to be one of the top forums. You should start years ago. Smile

Well gamers play but they also like to discuss about them favorite games and also read news about games (new NFSMW etc). If a site is up-to-date and offers game reviews and news, gamers would visit it.
