hi guys, i am going to start a directory very soon, can you guys please give me some un-common ideas for it?
I dont want to start another forum/site link directory.

Be original a bit this time Very Happy i know i am asking for too much here Razz

Directory...mmm if i have understood you correctly.

You know a website with a directory with addresses of all hotels, type of food provided in your country etc.

yea its good, actually the reason behind creating me one is just expanding myself a little and exploring a bit. so i could use an easier subject Razz lolz where most of the word can be done by the surfers not only me lol!

True, but once your site becomes popular. Restaurants will themselves promote on your website. They can submit their details etc.

Also, this cannot be done on a forum. You should have a proper hosted website with a well to do search function based on area, type of food. etc.

and you are right about the popularity thing, still i think it needs a lot of work to start off by me (which i dont like to do Razz)
any other user friendly idea? i was thinking about a name directory :!

Well there are many sites like that. I wouldn't want to start which is already there, there is no scope for it to become very popular.

you know a little glimps of an idea flashed through my mind before this name idea came, i was thinking of a directory of Webmasters.

So every webmaster/administrator post his name, email, other contacts plus some of his work like website, blog, main page.
what you think?

hmmm...

Looks like you are not sure about the subject of your directory.
First o all, think about what you are interested in and then search google for current market situation Razz After that you should decide the subject.

There are many webmasters directory on web. Search them on google and see how their service is.

webmaster directory would be good. Many of webmasters will add themselves there. They can also submit their work or link to their portfolio etc.

Categories, could be the normal ones. Maybe you can take a look at the normal promotion categories or our own forumotion directory & get a idea of it.

well i have seen those kind of directory categories but this one is like a webmaster or webmasters portfolios directory so thats why i was asking for some different category names, and as its just a start just want to have 5-6 categories to start from,

well you are not getting my point, see i dont want it to be another websites/forums link directory. what i was thinking is that i should have some categories so the webmasters can put links to their webpages and portfolios, So the people can see the directory of webmasters and their homepages, blogs and portfolios.

What you think of it?

well portfolio is for one, the second one could be blog...

As there will be lesser categories if i chose the niche of only webmaster's directory i was also thinking of putting couple of categories for resources
