It's been said that the road to hell is paved with good intentions. That the path to hell is a straight one. An easy and comfortable path, that many don't realize they are headed down. A place not meant for anyone. A place that didn't have to be until we made it a reality.

What offers justification to be sent to hell? Even well-intentioned or well-meaning people can go to hell. It's not enough to just believe in something good, the actions you take have to be correct. Sacrificing one life to save hundreds, but is it justified? Utilitarianism seems logical only in politics.

You could be a good law abiding citizen and still be sent there because of your lack of faith (Read 23 Minutes in Hell). You could be the most religious and pious person but still find yourself in Hell for your failure to realize your misgivings ("You will call me Lord and I will say I never knew you" - Bible, Matthew 7:23). Even the young and innocent unbaptized babies may find themselves in hell.

Do you think that you could end up in hell because of a single mistake, even if you had a good reason? "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." - Bible, James 2:10

I guess the point of this thread is what do you think is the path to hell? Do you think that well-meaning people can go to hell just for following this path? When I say hell I also mean figuratively. If someone does an action undeniably wrong but their intent was to help, does this fact lessen the crime?

Path to hell- The person who has malice in mind. If there are no bad intentions, i don't think we would ever get hell.

There are some people who have evil thoughts in mind, but do not do anything. Still, i feel they are much at fault as the ones who commit the crimes.

You'd be surprised how quickly thoughts can turn into actions, once a thought has crossed our minds not once but twice we are very well capable of the deed. But certainly thoughts alone are not bad. Or maybe not..

Bad intentions seen through the eyes of the one committing the crime. The devil himself was an angel. What sane human being defines their intentions as evil - evil would be malice for the sake of malice. Good and evil is reasonably subjective, and something which is hard to define without adding perspective. People - their intents, their actions, and even their very thoughts or wishes are only as evil as the upheld definitive morals and values you have attached them to.

Let me ask you this. What if you were sent into the past to abort/assassinate Adolf Hitler before he grew up. Ergo you'd be stopping the third 7-year Reich of one of history's most murderous tyrants and saving millions of lives. Or how would you feel about having to sacrifice one man in order to save 100 men?

Only man puts one sin before another, but all sins should be treated as equal. Who are we to place deeds and misdeeds in quantitative and qualitative amounts. What is one small wrong to be cast before a larger wrong? The path to hell really is paved with good, intentions, desires, and wishes..
