Veljko, had once suggested this to me. However, in my opinion i do not want to lose the USP of our forum. The soul of the forum is web designing & adding a advertising section will definitely increase the activity but then it will create more of a image of a advertising haven instead of a web designing related forum.
I could consider this suggestion, when we have enough activity on the other forums so that the USP of the forum is not lost due to the advertising section.

I am glad dotDavid, too has a similar opinion.

Yes Sanket, I am making a admin discussion forum, but there are some forums which have aspects of a promotion forum. I'm keeping it small, and will not expand it as I don't want to loose the purpose.

Also, note that the place would be heavily spammed.

i dont think this forum should have a advertising section. Its called WebArtz. If there's an advertising section,it defeats the whole purpose. But with a advertising section, this forum will surely rise up.

I don't prefer to have a advertising forum since we may lose the main subject of our forum that is web designing.

I'd like webartz to stick to web designing and coding only. I don't want more members to join, I want those to join who are interested in web design and coding stuff.

I prefer targeted members than members Very Happy

Correct we need to pick an area that is best everyone's interest. We don't want people here just to promote their forum and not even post or help others in web design.

Well, maybe not an advertising section, we should at least be allowed to have signatures. TBH, (apart from the ESF for obvious reasons) this is the only forum (out of at least 50) that users are not allowed to have signatures.

I have seen on Forumansion, the signatures are so many. It becomes like a mini advertising area for everyone. The reason we are against signatures are for loading a page for users who have dial ups etc. Their loading time should not increase.

True Sanket, but then again, you could make a rule with no graphics, but links are allowed.

Instead i would rather let them have just a single userbar without a link. Don't know it would be difficult to even let users get used to that rule.

That just contradicts what you just said about load time. A link wouldn't affect much of that, whereas if a page has 20 userbars on it, it would make a difference. And, you "could" put members who have been here for sometime to have signatures, as they will understand the rules much better. Wink

Yes because i consider spamming a much greater issue than load time. Moreover, it won't look good telling each & every member whats allowed in the signature & whats not. Also, its not fair to give just a few users the privilege to have signatures & no one else. Its very biased. Neutral

I think we are drifting off topic in this thread Razz

ah, forgot to vote, I voted yes for this, it can increase activity and population of the forum,

If this will be accepted, 100 posts is too much, 10-15 posts would be fine Wink

I Voted very Strict NO on this. As much as I love advertising my websites I dont think this is a good idea here. Webartz has its own unique stand now and going very great and I really love it and I think having an advertising sections would really look cheap here and I know that its possible that we will see more people around but that would really not help because we(Personally I) want people here that are seeking help or just love Web designing and coding.

So I would never agree on it even ani and sani consider this.
