Background color : doesn't matter
Any special effects to be added : something simple, please Smile
Things to avoid : (what you don't want in your image)
Other comments : I want something that will catch your eye without being too distracting, if that makes sense.

This is something I had a hard time with aswell for my forum background. As I didn't know the size either, as it doesn't state, I made a background simple that is fairly big.

That worked perfect, but if its too big it can cause lagging issues, which can be a real mess. So, all depends mate.

A background only needs to be 20*20 max, unless your going for a large image that goes with the flow of the website Wink

Yea, if its a simple background then that can be any size.

However, if your looking for something for custom such as pictures in the background, then a exact size is needed. (I don't recommended you picking the second option, as each computer has a different computer resolution, and it becomes messy).

I was looking for more of a simple design. Something like this website has, it's simple but not boring. I'm not sure how to explain what I want, but I was thinking a lighter background (original background color) with some darker details in it? I'm sorry I can't be very specific, but if it helps I'm very easy to please Smile
