Search Engine Optimization (Part 1/4) SEO introduction |
Hello and welcome to the first part of the 4 in total Search Engine Optimization Tutorials .I have been studying and learning Search Engine Optimization(Also known as SEO) and now its time to help you learn it as well What is SEO? SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization.SEO is the total of strategies and actions used in order to make a website/forum/blog friendly to the Search Engines like google bots, yahoo, bing etc. Why do we have to use SEO? When you create a website for the first time, you usually don't expect for thousands of visitors to come and see your site don't you?As a result,in order to gain visitors to your site and make it popular, you have to add your website to the search engines.People around the net use search engines like google in order to find websites they are interested in.So the basic aim of SEO is to make your website appear in the higher positions at the results of search engines searches,by the use of certain keywords. The top 4 search engines are Google,Yahoo,MSN & Bing(even though i have found some better ones but they are not so popular ) Keywords I am sure you have been using keywords in order to find something you want in the net by using a search engine. For example,if you want to find a company associated to web design what will you type to google search?99 percent you will type "Web Design company" or "Web Design services" .The keyword or keyphrase tells the search engine what kind of results to bring back for you. Search engines scour the internet, recording the information they find on various sites around the web. When you built a website for the first time keywords are extremely important. You want to target the keywords people are actively searching for. But as you can imagine, some keywords are more competitive than others. An example of a general keyphrase is “lose weight”. It’s much more competitive than the keyphrase “lose weight with the lemon juice diet” . If you build a new site around the phrase “lose weight”, you’ll be competing with well established websites and likely find your site buried on page 89 of Google’s search results for the term.Where your site falls on the search results pages is measured as its ranking. For the general keyphrase “lose weight”, you’ll likely be low in the rankings, so your site won’t receive much traffic or exposure. There are many SEO analysers on the net,try finding some and they will tell you if you use competitive keywords on your site or not. Thanks for reading the first Part of my SEO tutorial,i hope i explained everything nicely and you got a nice first view of what SEO is. Whats coming up to Part 2?
